Adrian Waschmann

Adrian Waschmann is dramaturg to the federally-funded programme “Immersion” at Berliner Festspiele and within this programme also holds the position of head of programming to “The New Infinity. New Art for Planetariums”.

The Berliner Festspiele are part of the Kulturveranstaltungen des Bundes in Berlin GmbH, an umbrella organization of which the Berlinale, Haus der Kulturen der Welt and Martin-Gropius-Bau are part of as well. We are one of the very few federally funded cultural institutions and thus are directly part of the German Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

As part of Immersion “The New Infinity – new art for planetariums” premiered last year for the first time in context of the Berlin Art Week. This program is developed together with the Planetarium Hamburg, one of the most visited and technologically advanced planetariums in Europe. The first edition of “The New Infinity” included works of David OReilly, Holly Herndon & Matthew Dryhurst as well as Fatima Al Qadiri & Transforma and finished off with a concert of William Baskinski, Evelina Domnitch & Dmitry Gelfand.

“The New Infinity” is planned to run until 2020 with newly-commissioned art works each year.

Adrian has previously worked at Haus der Kulturen der Welt (Berlin), Museum of Modern Art (New York City) and Bogotá (Colombia). He holds a BA in European Studies, Art History and Latin American Studies from Universiteit van Amsterdam and a MA in “Art & Politics” from Goldsmiths, University of London.
