Denver, Colorado USA -- The 2012 IMERSA Summit is set to take place 3-5 February 2012 at the Denver Museum of Nature & Science (DMNS). "Lessons from our past, Visualizing our future: Winning solutions for the digital dome" is the theme.
The two-and-a-half-day Summit is organized by IMERSA (Immersive Media, Entertainment, Research, Science & Arts) - a nonprofit trade group formed in 2008 to boost the adoption and creative application of the digital dome and other immersive media formats

GSCA is hosting a one-day event at the newly re-opened digital dome theater at the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond, Virginia. While there are other 8K digital dome systems, this is the first digital fulldome installation on a tilted, truncated, giant dome with brightness and resolution that equals or exceeds 15/70 film. The system is also capable of active stereo 3D across the dome, which will be demonstrated at the event.
The demo will be held Wednesday, October 22, immediately following ASTC, which is being held in Raleigh, North Carolina. There will be a charter bus service leaving Raleigh on Tuesday, October 21, at approximately 6:30 pm for the 3-hour trip to Richmond.

The Giant Screen Cinema Association (GSCA) will hold its annual conference & trade show in Toronto at the Ontario Science Centre, Sept 20-23. The conference will feature film screenings, professional development, technical demonstrations, a trade show, and more. GSCA also plans to include a laser demo as part of the conference. The Sheraton will serve as the conference hotel in Toronto.

The Irene W. Pennington Planetarium at the Louisiana Art & Science Museum (LASM) is honored to invite you to participate in the 21st International Planetarium Society Conference, IPS2012, to be held in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA from 22 July to 26 July, 2012.
The Jena Zeiss-Planetarium will host the 6th FullDome Festival from May 8th to 12th, 2012. The organizers invite all fulldome producers to submit their latest productions to the 2012 FullDome Festival. It is open to all fulldome producers worldwide. In 2012, full-length feature shows withlengths between 20 and 45 minutes will be welcome again. Students are especially encouraged to contribute. Remaining a regular program item, the Student Festival will present, and award prizes to, fulldome sequences created by students at home and abroad. The Festival will culminate with a Saturday-night gala of the best entries in the categories of student contributions, professional clips, and of the winning full-length show. The thematic focus in 2012 is on the concept of »Dissolving Space«, a term that may be freely interpreted in all categories.
