Newark Museum
The Newark Museum operates, as it has since its founding, in the public trust as a museum of service, and a leader in connecting objects and ideas to the needs and wishes of its constituencies. We believe that our art and science collections have the power to educate, inspire and transform individuals of all ages, and the local, regional, national and international communities that we serve. In the words of founding Director John Cotton Dana, "A good museum attracts, entertains, arouses curiosity, leads to questioning—and thus promotes learning."
New Jersey's First Planetarium
The Alice and Leonard Dreyfuss Planetarium is a spectacular interactive theater for learning about astronomy, space and planetary science. Audiences can explore the constellations, travel through the Solar System, visit distant galaxies and soar to the edge of the Universe.
Planetarium Upgrade
The Dreyfuss Planetarium has undergone a major upgrade thanks to a federal grant through the National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA). The upgrade includes the addition of "Full Dome" digital video, a surround sound system and exciting new state-of-the-art programs.
